This book was originally published in 1980 and only recently reprinted. It was compiled by Charles Patel, an avid technical trader and analyst, in collaboration with Ed Hargitt of the venerable firm Dunn & Hargitt with which I have been familiar since the 1960s.

At the time of original publication, personal PC's were virtually nonexistent and most technical analysis calculations were performed by hand. Consequently, the exact steps involved in setting up a manually calculated work sheet are shown for many of these systems.

This is a major benefit to readers inclined to adapt this approach. While computer code for back-testing these systems is not provided, the descriptions are so exact that programming and back-testing is easily accomplished. Because back-testing results are not shown, it is difficult to say how many would still be effective or profitable under current conditions. Thus, the reader is cautioned against blindly trading these systems without verifying their current effectiveness.

It should be noted that many of the systems detailed in this book are themselves the subjects of individually published books (such as Wilder's New Concepts in Technical Trading Systems $64). Thus, obtaining all of this information in a single source represents a great bargain.
